Who is Rosie?

Rosie has been District Councillor for this ward since 2022. She has lived in Asthall for 27 years, and brought up her two daughters here. She divides her time between her work as a councillor and running a much loved arts and events business at Asthall Manor, where she is managing the landscape for biodiversity and carbon capture.

An optimist by nature, Rosie cares passionately about building a future for all which is not only greener and fairer, but also more harmonious and less stressful.

What has Rosie done in her first term?

For four years, Rosie has worked hard, following up every contact, attending every parish and district council meeting, supporting local businesses and community groups, and helping residents with issues affecting their daily lives, from potholes to housing. At the Council, she has sat on planning and scrutiny committees, researched and spoken out as ward councillor against bad planning applications, insisted on better policies in the emerging Local Plan, and helped residents to feed into consultations. She has become respected by all parties as an effective and authentic councillor, coming up with ideas that attract wide support. She has spoken out repeatedly against unrealistic government housing targets. Through her engagement with West Oxfordshire’s emerging Local Plan, Rosie is pushing for policies which hold developers to account, making sure that the building that does take place is of the highest possible quality, with adequate infrastructure, community space and access to nature.

What will Rosie do if you re-elect her on May 7th?

Rosie will continue to represent the residents of Brize Norton, Shilton, Asthall and Swinbrook, putting her four years of experience at the District Council to good use. Rosie will continue to strengthen connections between residents and the services they depend on. By May 2028, West Oxfordshire District Council will merge into some form of unitary council, and Rosie is determined not to let the bigger council eclipse the needs of the local area. Rosie will represent the needs of hard-pressed parish councils and residents who may feel cut off from decisions being made. Above all, Rosie will be out and about throughout the ward, listening and learning so that she can put the priorities of local people at the heart of decision-making.
